Diethylene glycol can be miscible with water, ethanol, ethylene glycol, acetone, chloroform, furfural, etc. Immiscible with diethyl ether, carbon tetrachloride, carbon disulfide, linear aliphatic hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, etc. Rosin, shellac, cellulose acetate and most oils are insoluble in diethylene glycol, but can dissolve nitrocellulose, alkyd resin 、polyester resin , polyurethane and most dyes. Flammable and low toxicity. It has general chemical properties of alcohols and ethers.
